Cuba - On the streets of Havana
January 12, 2009 See all the photos in this series at Picasa.
I visited Havana, Cuba for the first time in June 2007. I stayed at a bed and breakfast in the Centro district for two weeks. I explored Centro, Habana Vieja, Vedado and Plaza on foot each day.
My eye was often caught by people passing by striking backdrops - political and artistic graffiti, two-toned walls, remnants of the city wall, even the mirrored windows of the Museo de Bellas Artes Cuba. I tried to capture some of the spirit of the Cuban people as they went about their daily rounds.
I exhibited some of the photographs from this series in winter 2008 at Aux Vivres, a restaurant in Montreal.
