Superock Tattoo - Body art in Montreal
October 8, 2009 There's new inspiration at Ça décoiffe, the barber shop on Papineau Avenue where Daniel Haché organizes group photography shows. Daniel has chosen a text by his friend Daniel Rondeau to provide the creative spark for this month's exhibition. Daniel Rondeau's short text La chair à canon d'antan describes a man whose aging, sagging skin transforms a youthful tattoo into a sad caricature.
My contribution to the show is Superock Tattoo. It's a photograph I took in 2006 at the corner of Ste-Catherine Street and Clark Street in Montreal. The image is from my series Montréal, je t'aime, a continuing exhibition you can see at Bistro Chez Plume, 363 rue St-Jacques ouest in Old Montreal.
Superock Tattoo will be on display at Ça décoiffe until November 1, 2009. Ça décoiffe is located at 4526 Papineau Avenue (map) next to La Tulipe. Feel free to drop in to view Superock Tattoo and the photographs of the other participants in the show.
The barber shop is open Thursday (9:00-6:00), Friday (12:00-8:00), Saturday (9:00-4:00), Sunday (10:00-5:00) and Monday (9:00-6:00).
You're welcome to attend the opening of the next show at Ça décoiffe. The opening will be on November 2, 2009 at 9:00 PM ... the night of the full moon!
