Hiroshima pathways - Street photography

See all the photos in this series at Picasa.

Urban Pathways is a series of photographs of people in four cities: Montreal, Paris, Brooklyn and Hiroshima.

The final city in this series was Hiroshima, Japan. On August 4, 2005, I walked from the home of friends in Ushita-hon-machi to the home of other friends in Hakushima-kuken-cho. Although the two neighborhoods are close to each other, the first is in Higashi-ku ward and the second is in Naka-ku ward.

All the photographs in the series Urban Pathways reveal aspects of private lives in public places. Taken together, the images of the people I saw remind us that the path we follow is just as important as our destination.

My photographs of Hiroshima were taken on both banks of the Ota River below.
