Leaving Uppsala - Train station at dawn

Leaving Uppsala

I recently spent two weeks visiting Uppsala, Sweden. It's a charming university town with an active cultural and commercial life. It's also an ecclesiastical center, with the oldest cathedral in Scandinavia. I explored the city on foot and traversed its many bridges over the Fyris River.

Although I made day trips by train to nearby Stockholm, Uppsala was easier to get to know than the capital because of its smaller and more intimate scale. On the morning I left, I was the first person on the platform waiting for the train to Arlanda Airport. The sun's first light was filling the sky and the morning fog was lifting.

The photograph Leaving Uppsala is on display until June 6, 2009 at Ça décoiffe, a barber shop in Montreal. Barber Daniel Haché organizes monthly group exhibitions at his haircutting salon on Papineau Avenue. The theme of the current show is Nostalgia.

Ça décoiffe is located at 4526 Papineau Avenue (map) next to La Tulipe. Feel free to drop in to view Leaving Uppsala and the photographs of the other participants in the show.

The barber shop is open Thursday (9:00-6:00), Friday (12:00-8:00), Saturday (9:00-4:00), Sunday (10:00-5:00) and Monday (9:00-6:00).

You're welcome to attend the opening of the next show. The openings are always on the night of the full moon! The next opening will be on June 7, 2009 at 9:00 PM.
