Montréal, je t'aime - Love on St. Denis Street
February 2, 2010 This month's group photography show at Ça décoiffe, the barber shop on Papineau Avenue in Montreal, is inspired by Daniel Rondeau's text Prêt à emporter. It's the story of Yvette, an eldery woman who makes herself up with particular care each time she goes out to play bingo. On this particular evening she wins $247. But when the bingo game is over Yvette returns to her tiny apartment, where the doorbell never rings and the no one ever phones.
My contribution to the show is the photograph Montréal, je t'aime, which I took in 2006. It shows a confident young woman walking along St-Denis Street in Montreal. The photograph is part of my series Montréal, je t'aime, which I exhibited at Bistro Chez Plume and the Intercontinental Montreal Hotel from 2006 to 2009.
Montréal, je t'aime will be on display at Ça décoiffe until February 27, 2010. Ça décoiffe is located at 4526 Papineau Avenue (map) next to La Tulipe. Feel free to drop in to view Montréal, je t'aime and the photographs of the other participants in the show.
The barber shop is open Thursday (9:00-6:00), Friday (12:00-8:00), Saturday (9:00-4:00), Sunday (10:00-5:00) and Monday (9:00-6:00).
You're welcome to attend the opening of the next show at Ça décoiffe. The opening will be on February 28, 2010 at 9:00 PM ... the night of the full moon!
