Quatre Vents - Beautiful Charlevoix garden
March 19, 2010

In June 2007, a friend and I visited one of the most beautiful gardens in Canada. It's the Jardins de Quatre-Vents, a private garden in the Charlevoix region of Quebec.
The garden is part of the former Seigneurie de La Malbaie owned by the American horticulturalist Francis Cabot. The garden and the surrounding estate are on a height of land overlooking the St. Lawrence River, where the four winds do indeed meet.
The beautifully designed garden is a series of interconnected natural settings of flowers, woods, ponds and streams, highlighted with sculptures and pavilions.
The Jardins de Quatre-Vents is open to the public four days each year, in June, July and August, at the peak of the growing season. Tickets for the summer tours go on sale the previous December and they sell out quickly. Information about purchasing tickets is available here.
