Vanilla moon - Night sky over Dairy Queen
March 28, 2010
I was walking home one night in Montreal a few years ago when I passed by the Dairy Queen on Park Avenue. As I looked up I saw that the familiar DQ sign stood out against the darkness of the night sky. Bringing my camera to my eye to frame the image, I noticed another more ancient sphere glowing in the sky. It seemed that the moon and the sign were acknowledging each other's powerful force of attraction.
Vanilla moon is part of a group photography exhibition at Ça décoiffe, a barber shop on Papineau Avenue. The theme of this month's show is A hint of vanilla and infinity. The theme is inspired by Denis Payette's poem Un goût de vanille et d'infini. Denis has a web site where he writes regularly about life. You can read his reflections in the Hors-d'oeuvre et canapés littéraires section of his site.
The opening of the exhibition will be on March 29, 2010 at 9:00 PM. Ça décoiffe is located at 4526 Papineau Avenue (map) next to La Tulipe. Feel free to drop into the barber shop to view Vanilla moon and the photographs of the other participants in the show, which run until April 26, 2010.
The barber shop is open Thursday (9:00-6:00), Friday (12:00-8:00), Saturday (9:00-4:00), Sunday (10:00-5:00) and Monday (9:00-6:00).
