How deep is the St. Lawrence River? 89 meters!

A few years ago, some friends and I spent a weekend sailing at Quebec City. We rented a 29-foot sailboat from the marina at the Bassin Louise. We enjoyed two days on the St. Lawrence River traveling between the Quebec Bridge and Île d'Orléans

Our boat was equipped with a depth meter, so from time to time I would check to see how deep the river was. At one point we were mid-stream between Quebec City and Lévis and I realized the river was 89 meters deep. I was so impressed I took a picture to record the fact!

89 meters is currently on display at Ça décoiffe, a barber shop on Papineau Avenue in Montreal. The shop is run by Daniel Haché, a barber who has an interest in photography. Daniel has turned the walls of his barber shop into a gallery and he hosts a group photography show there every month. The theme of this month's show is Taken on the run.

You can view Taken on the run during business hours at Ça decoiffe: Monday (9:00-6:00), Thursday (9:00-6:00), Friday (12:00-8:00), Saturday (9:00-4:00) and Sunday (10:00-5:00). Ça décoiffe is located at 4526 Papineau Avenue, just above Mont Royal Avenue

If you'd like to participate in the exhibitions at Ça décoiffe, make sure speak to Daniel while you're at the barber shop/gallery. The theme of the next show will be Head(s). Everyone is welcome to attend the opening, which will be at 9:00 PM on September 23, 2010 ... the night of the full moon!
