Etienne in Old Montreal
April 2, 2011

I asked my student Étienne to model for me so I could try out some new perspectives and locations. He happily agreed and we arranged to meet in Old Montreal this morning. The weather was clear and sunny and the cobble-stone streets were free of traffic and pedestrians.
Étienne was an excellent model. He suggested many of the locations and he created an almost endless variety of poses. I shot the first portrait in the entrance of a residential building. I took the second one outside the head office of the National Bank.
As successful as these portraits are, I realize I still have things learn. While the first portrait brings out Étienne's magnetic green eyes, the focus in the second one is not as sharp as it should be. I'll need to focus the lens more clearly when Étienne and I do our next photo shoot.
