Honkawa River - Hiroshima

From 1986 to 1989 I lived in Hiroshima, which is located on the delta of the Ota River. During that time I crossed the Ota and its many streams on a daily basis. But it was only this past June, when I returned to Hiroshima to visit friends, that I decided to explore the shores of the river for the first time.

I started my walk behind the Children's Library and the Family Swimming Pool on the eastern shore of the Honkawa River, one of the streams of the Ota. I walked upstream to the main channel of the Ota, and continued to the bridges of the Shinkansen and Sanyo train lines. The distance I walked was about 2 km.
